L'association "L'Autorail x2800 du Haut-Doubs" basée à l'Hôpital du Grosbois (ligne Besançon Morteau) préserve l'autorail x2816 au titre du patrimoine ferroviaire. L'association créée en 2009 après la radiation des derniers autorails de type x2800 de la SNCF a remis en état l'x2816. Il effectuait le 4 juin 2022, une circulation touristique de Besançon à Morez.
